TEST PREPARATION

Taking tests can be a frightening experience for a child especially if they don’t have the tools to do their best. A+ Academic Tutoring Services has intensive test preparation for a wide range of standardized tests.

Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test – (PSAT)
The PSAT is designed to help students practice for the SAT and is used to determine eligibility for possible scholarships.

Scholastic Assessment Test – (SAT)
The SAT predicts how students will perform academically as college freshmen. It is used by college admissions officers for acceptance decisions. The SAT has three math sections covering arithmetic, algebra, geometry and three verbal sections. Enrollment Form

American College Testing - (ACT)
The ACT predicts a student's success in college. The four areas tested are English, Math, Reading and Science. Some colleges use it as a secondary admissions tool and for awarding merit-based scholarships or loans.

Secondary School Admission Test - (SSAT)
The SSAT is a test required for many independent schools. It is used as an admissions and placement tool and predicts how well students will perform.

Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS)
The MCAS tests are based on the learning standards contained in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.

In 2006-07 MCAS tests will be administered on the following content areas:
    • English / Language Arts
    • Mathematics
    • Science & Technology/Engineering
    • History and Social Sciences (question tryout only)
